Position Summary:
Reporting to the Technical Manager, Infrastructure & IT Operations the Senior Systems Administrator is responsible for architecting and implementing new systems as well as continuously improving current systems and providing oversight, administration, monitoring, analysis, and support of all Infrastructure systems within the organization’s computing environment. The position proactively recommends improvements based on industry knowledge and research.

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide critical system support to cloud and on-premises virtualized/hybrid infrastructure environment (Azure, AWS, On-prem VMware, Microsoft 365, AzureAD, Active Directory and various systems)
  • Install, diagnose, repair, maintain, upgrade, and document all cloud, On-prem hardware, server-based software, and VMWare-based systems to ensure stable and optimal operation and performance
  • Make all technical decisions keeping security top of mind, proactively ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
  • Prepare response to audit related enquiries and work with internal and external partners to provide evidence/documentation
  • Evaluate technical infrastructure and recommend changes for improvement
  • Document detailed system operating controls/procedures and provide user training
  • Coordinate with internal IT team to schedule and perform patch and vulnerability management activities for all servers and infrastructure
  • Lead annual DR testing exercise, coordinate with internal/external stakeholders, and keep enterprise DR plan and failover procedure documentation up to date
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts
  • Troubleshoot network problems including internet and intranet related issues impacting applications
  • Assist in documentation and reporting of systems usage for business processes and business application functionality
  • Coordinate and liaise with external IT vendors on P.O. order specification, issue resolution and new development/hardware upgrade initiatives (provides recommendation for purchase of new hardware).

Qualifications & Experience:

Degrees, Diplomas & Certifications:

  • The position requires a university degree in the field of Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Alternatively, a college diploma with advanced industry experience and knowledge
  • Certifications in VMware, Microsoft, AWS, Azure or ITIL would be beneficial

Years and Range of Experience Required to Perform the Job:

The position requires 7+ years hands-on experience as a Senior Systems Administrator or similar senior technical role, using most of the following platforms and technologies:

  • In depth experience with VMWare ESXi & VCenter, Amazon Web Services (AWS); Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 suite
  • Hands-on administration experience with Infrastructure backup/restore, monitoring and data replication products and technologies such as (Dell PowerStore, Dell Data Domain, Veeam, Zerto, PRTG, and iSCSI and/or Fiber Channel)
  • Extensive knowledge of Active Directory administration including DNS, DHCP, forests/domains, Kerberos authentication, GPOs etc.
  • Identity and Access Management experience with SAML, SCIM, OAuth and OpenID
  • Extensive Windows Server administration experience from Windows Server 2016 and upwards
  • Excellent scripting experience with PowerShell and/or Python
  • Administration/management of SSL Certificates
  • Patching & Vulnerability Management using tools such as MS Intune, ManageEngine, Qualys
  • Endpoint Management of Windows and iOS devices
